Whatever
you want...

To tell you the truth, I like getting advice a whole lot less than giving advice. I guess it should be the other way around. I imagine that the smart person tends to listen to what others have to say, on the chance that it may be useful or in some way educational. My problem is that I find it hard to know for sure if any given person is really telling me something worth listening to, so I’d rather throw all advice to the wind and do what I feel is best.

That doesn’t stop people from giving me advice though. For example, this very website, I was advised to enable readers to post their thoughts and comments on our stories. They said that it would create a sense of community and that it would help us to learn what people want to read about. But communities creep me out, and I want to be free to decide for myself what I write about. No self respecting band can be told what their music should be about, and to give you our best we need to have free reign to follow our thoughts, and hunches. Too many cooks spoil the soup.

I know internet is all about dialoguing and taking everyone’s ideas into consideration. But here at Reading Rocks we like to put our own needs first. In the same way most bands make music that THEY most want to hear, we write about things that WE love and are interested in.  It’s not about pleasing everybody, it’s about doing what you feel is good.

Even though we encourage everybody to follow their own path, this website is full of loving advice. Things we’ve learned along the way and stories from inspirational people that taught us something. It’s completely up to you to take that advice to heart or not. We just hope, if nothing else, that you’ll enjoy our stories. Putting them together rocked, now hopefully Reading Rocks just as hard…
